St. Nicholas is the oldest surviving church in Lithuania - mentioned in 1320 and built before 1387. Late gothic style. In the of the 19th century local lithuanians searched for a church in Vilnius for their community. Since 1900 lithuanians gathered in abandonned St. Nicholas Church and chanted here. In 1901 the church was given to lithuanian community and until 1939 remained the only church in Vilnius were masses were celebrated in lithuanian language.
