Fort Mill is a town located in both York and Lancaster Counties in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The population was 10,811 at the 2010 census.
Settled by Scotch-Irish in the 1750's, Fort Mill is named for a colonial-era British fort and grist mill in the area. The community was established as a town in 1873. It was also the site of the last meeting of the Confederate Cabinet in 1865, held as officials fled Richmond for the Deep South.
