This building was originally the Cabana Motor Hotel and where big acts like The Beatles or Jimi Hendrix stayed when they visited Dallas, but its glory days in the 1960s faded as it became derelict and was eventually bought by the city and converted into a jail, the Decker Detention Center. In 2009, it was closed and leased to a non-profit halfway house (The Way Back House) which moved its operations there but was purchased by Avalon Correctional Services in 2011.
