This was the school for K through 12 until the new campus was completed. Four of the buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Horace Mann School Historic District. Those buildings are the main school building, home economics building, vocational education building and the gym/auditorium. The school complex was originally built between 1936 and 1940 as a Works Progress Administration project, which provided labor for workers during the Great Depression.
