Eracha Kulam Lake is a bird watcher's paradise. Wonderful local and migratory birds, rare varieties of them are seen here. Very much on the road, so drive and park along the road, get down and start watching. Birds seem to be elusive, so try being alone and make no noise, because the elusive varieties are the rare ones.

I found some "Great Blue Herons", Purple Herons, Little Black Cormorants, Purple Gallinules[purple swamphen], Night Herons and Grey Herons. I did not find them pelicans but found some Egrets and Painted Storks though.

Just 10 minutes from the town, and you have a bird sanctuary! just splendid. Better place than the boring always Cape Comorin and statues!! Try this place, it is north of Vadaseri bus stand.
