This village was the border area of Tenkasi and Sangarankovil kingdom in the early days. On earth this place is there exactly at Latitude 9.115911 degrees Longitude 77.391815 Degrees. The reason for the name is (Sanganaperi = sangu+natham+peri) Sangu means shells, Natham means sound, shells were used by the early kings to generate a special sound which tells the beginning and end of the war this was the border village and most of times the war will be going on here. War sound was the only music for this village. This village is a valley covered by 3 small mountains on 3 directions. This valley is an evergreen place through out the year. This valley fully covered by trees. If you enter into this village you can see only tree. If you go 100 Meters out of the valley you can see only trees and not even a single houses. This is due to DENSE TREES around. This valley is just 30 Km away from KUTTRALAM. This valley enjoys the Drizzling rain from June to August. The evening view of WESTERN GHATS MOUNTAIN, FALLING SUN, REDDISH SKY ALONG WITH the DRIZZLING RAIN AND GOOD WIND makes you feel like in HEAVEN (Around 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm). If you continuously feel this for a week all your stress will go and you will never leave the place. During the period from Nov to Feb NORTH EAST will shower in this area. You can see the evergreen paddy fields all around the place during this period. During that period this valley will appears to be a heavenly place to enjoy in the earth. Agriculture is the main business in this village. VEMBU AMMAN temple in this village is very famous in 50km circle around the valley. OOTU puja that comes once in every 7 years is very famous. The village is 2 km away from the Madurai to Tenkasi High way. There is only one bus, which connects this valley with main road. Even with these difficulties the literacy rate in this valley is very high. Education in this valley starts from a Diamond Jubilee celebrated Hindu Elementary School (85 years old). To come here catch very famous 3 No bus from Tenkasi. One who wants to enjoy the true virginity of the nature you can visit this valley. Sanganaperi Kabbadi team was well known in the Tirunelveli district. This valley produced lot of doctors and engineers hoping to generate an IAS officer in near future. Paddy, Lemon, Groundnut, Chilly, Tomato, Coconut, etc are the main crops in this valley. Milk production is growing at a faster in this valley. Two tanks which irrigate this village (Kallathi Kulam & Thaayar Kulam which gets the water from karuppanathi Dam). Some of windmill companies are also targeting this place because of the continuous wind blow.
