The Twickenham Bridge is a street bridge over the Thames River in London. It connects the Richmond district on the northeast side with the St. Margaret's district on the southwest side, both located in the London Borough of Richmond Thames district. It is made of reinforced concrete, with balustrades and bronze lamps. The bridge forms part of the main street A316 (also called Chertsey Road), which connects the city center of London with the M3 motorway at Sunbury-on-Thames. The center of the Twickenham district, after which the bridge is named, is located about three kilometers away in the southwestern direction. The first plans for the construction of the bridge were already in 1909, but the opening was only carried out on July 3, 1933 by the Prince of Wales, later King Eduard VIII.
