Semaphore

47" 39' North - 003" 30' West : such is the geographical position of the semaphore of "Beg-Melen" implanted in the northwest point of the island since 1881. Already since the Revolution, articulated arm devices were implanted in the sector of "Grognon". Having climbed 50 steps of the tower, we reach the room of the watch which peaks in 60 m over the sea. This semaphore of 1st category assures a supervision 24 hours a day and assures its missions of assistance of the maritime approaches, the transmission with the ships of the Navy, the supervision of the fishing and the data transmission "Meteo France".
