Sold to Canada Lands Corp., then repurchased by DND. No new info in almost ten years. There is now a pit of some sort at the Runway 16 (northwest) end.

  • Currently owned by Canada Lands Company
  • About to be repurchased from CLC http://thechronicleherald.ca/Front/1111937.html Wonder what's they're planning.
  • I dunno, but I am excited to say the least!
  • Wonder if the airshow will ever be back there? I hope so. Would be nice to see a C17 land there as well. *crosses fingers*
  • That would certainly be nice to see! None of the hangars at Shearwater are large enough to house a C17, not even the demolished D hangar, so there would probably be a lot of construction activity to boot!
  • Do we know what's happened here since all these last comments?
  • Haven't a clue. The people I know at Shearwater don't know either. McKay may not even know. DND seems to have bigger things on it's plate right now. One of the Globemasters successfully landed on the short 16/34 rwy, so it's hard to say what use this one could be, but I'm still hopeful.
  • Though, I think it'd be smart if DND had at least one SAR chopper here.
  • Just realized that there are paved sections to the old runway, so obviously something's up.
