Workers Island (formerly known as Slave Island). Located in Back Bay (Western Bay), it measures one kilometre in length.
It's earlier history was notable for its association with the slave trade but in latter times it became a busy dhow building yard, then a boat junk yard. After independence from Colonial Britain it was named "Workers Island."
