Condensed, high-salinty salt water is pumped into these shallow crystallizer basins from the larger, deeper condenser basins where it is left to fully evaporate under the sun, leaving only salt crystals behind. The salt crystals are then scraped up by trucks and left in large piles to further dry and bleach in the sun before being loaded on ships for export.
