‘San Pedro y San Pablo’ Church is conceived by the architect Juan de Maeda (Cantabria, ?, Granada, June 25, 1576), a disciple of the famous Spanish architect Diego de Siloé and his successor as architect of the Cathedral of Granada after his death. He also led the construction which later was carried out by the builder Pedro Solís. The church was built on the land where before the conquest of the Catholic Monarchs there was the mosque of the “Baños del Nogal”.
