Church of Our Lady of Mercy

Rebuilt on the old chapel of San Antonio Abad, was amended in 1780 by Francisco Javier Pedrajas. It presents a Latin cross with a short cruise trough-shaped, covered by a groin vault in two sections and a large dome gallon. Below is a curved cornice with a large archangels. The fine rococo plasterwork are distributed in groups around the temple and are, like the rest of the set, bathed in the light they receive from the windows of the dome and vault. The altarpiece is the work of Pedrajas and sides. The first is formed by a bank, two bodies and a central auction. One Corinthian columns decorated with ribbons that cross at its center, which divide the streets appearing on the sides the images of San Ramón Nonato and St. Thomas Aquinas. The central part is occupied by the chapel of the Virgen de las Mercedes. In the second body, the image of Santa Catalina. The decoration is gilded rococo, like moldings. The shrine, chaired by the image of Our Lady of Mercy, dress size small size, is the only piece that remains of the old chapel.Dated 1753, is attributed to Juan de Dios Santaella. Its plan is square with concave corners, flanked by four angels on shelves. The marble cover, which was completed only the first body was made in 1799 by architect Nicholas Duronia in neoclassical style. Topping the twin towers facade. Declared a National Monument.
