  • The Bottalck Mine is one of the most famous of the Cornish tin mines. The Crowns Shaft was a 45% diagonal shaft entering close to water level and going several miles out to sea below ground. The then Prince of Wales went down the mine. When the Ocean was very rough it could even break over the mine entrance, so it was fortunate the pumps were in good order!
