Nickname: "Vancouver Steam." Company that provides steam (hot water and heat) for most of the buildings in the downtown core. Tunnels large enough to walk in branch out along major streets including Seymour and Burrard. At Seymour St. and Nelson St. you can look down into one of 2 large grates, and in several places along Burrard St., you can find some very elegant clear glass manholes covering vent pipes.

Built in 1968, the existing 70,000 sq. ft. building provides heating to over 210 buildings having a floor area of over 45 million square feet. The property is subject of a development proposal to construct a seventeen storey, 617,000 sq. ft. "S" shaped office building with 18,500 sq. ft. o retail space at ground level. The existing power plant is to be replaced by a new low carbon plant.
