Ebright Azimuth (448') - the highest point in Delaware

USA / Delaware / Arden /
 landmark, highpoint

This is the highest elevation in the state of Delaware. Several candidate spots are in the area, among them the Ebright/Ramblewood intersection, the sign, the benchmark, the field W of Ebright, and the trailer park further W (which has a possibly manmade contour of 450'). The latter two are privately owned, and should be avoided.

The highest benchmark monument in Delaware is located on Ebright Road. This horizontal control mark denotes an elevation of 447.85 feet above sea level. The Delaware Geological Survey through its relationship with the National Geodetic Survey has determined that this benchmark monument is in the vicinity of the highest natural elevation in the state.

Comments

  • The peopke of Delaware might consider that Lidar and other survey methods do indicate that there are several spots just to the West that are expected to be over 450 feet. Checking available maps could locate one that is accessable to the Public. Then a certified geodetic team could establish a new, and higher, benchmark.
  • Just dig a swimming pool in that 450 foot high trailer park, pile up the dirt, and hire a professional surveyor to survey the dirt pile, You could have your very own private high point.
