  • Wow, talk about deja vu. This bar belonged to a childhood friend of my father. J.C. Proctor grew up in Southwest City, MO and was born in the early 1920's. Some time after WWII he moved to the Anaheim area and opened this bar. In the 1980's he would return to SWC for the annual Southwest City Invitational Golf Tournament that my Dad would sponsor. One year he brought a limousine that he used at the bar and gave the children at the tournament limousine rides. Another year he drove up in a DeLorean. Around home he was known as "Gracie". My kids remember him as the "limousine guy" but I remember him as a great storyteller. One of his stories was about his ex-wife. He said "after the divorce she told me 'J.C. there's just one thing about you that I hate-it's that you breathe'" I've lost touch of the Proctor family since the 80's but I'd love to hear from someone who knew "Gracie"
  • If you've been to this bar or know J.C. (Gracie) Proctor. Send an email to deadbird4@yahoo.com I'd like to hear more stories about the place.
  • I've been to this bar....a few times....usually for breakfast. Greyhounds at 7 a.m., the breakfast of champions!
  • My brother Packy (AKA Paul) used to tend bar at the Lil Dude in the 70's, I think he would tell stories about J.C. My brother was great story teller too. He passed away today that's why I was looking up the Lil Dude. R.I.P. Packy
  • Are you still out there
  • Was there in the 70's. Many times. Are there ANY pictures of the bar out there?
  • My dad Carl Michels used to bar tend there when I was a kid in the late 70’s early 80’s. I have many fond memories of that place as he would take me before school and I would get breakfast, usually it was a burger made by Bob Lukey, not sure of the spelling but that what it sounds like. Some of the best burgers of my life. I spent a lot of time in there when I was a kid and my dads friends would bring their kids too and we would play pool for hours. That’s how I got so good!
  • I worked down the street from Lil' Dude in the 70s. I ate lunch there several times a week for years. They were the best tasting cheese burgers I ever had. Nobody comes close. I so wish there was a recipe...
  • They had awesome burgers. I used to go in the 80s when I worked down the street, as well. Even their BLT's were a thing of beauty.
