For many years, Mission San Luis Rey held a fiesta during which Spanish costumed riders from the 1700's would come from the top of the hill down to the Mission. Because of the 'new' Hwy76 Bypass, the custom was stopped. All that remains from all those years is the trail the horses cut as they zig-zagged down the steep hillside.
