Samrat Yantra is an equinoctial sundial built by Sawai Jai Singh around 1724. The triangular gnomon is tilted with respect to the horizon by an angle equal to the latitude of the location as measured by observers during its construction. The instrument is remarkably accurate and is capable of measuring time to an accuracy of 1 second!
