Hergenrath or Hergenraedt (Dutch: Hergenraat) is a sub-municipality of the Belgian German-speaking municipality of Kelmis in the province of Liège. The place was part of the original area of the Duchy of Limburg. Hergenrath is sometimes considered part of the Platdiet region.

Hergenrath was first mentioned in writing in a document from 1280, as Heyenroth.

The suffix "raedt" in the place name is a spelling variant of the Middle Dutch word rode or rade (compare Kerkrade). It refers to cleared land, land that has been made suitable for construction by clearing trees. Hergenraedt is the original name of this place and this name was Germanized to Hergenrath by the German government during the period that the place was temporarily ceded to the German Empire. Hergen refers to Herchen, which means gentlemen in German. However, the local population still uses this local Platdiet name.
