The Ambrosia Bakery opened its doors on December 3, 1993. Owners Felix and Cheryl Sherman are natives of New Orleans. They started the bakery to provide beautiful cakes and delicious desserts to the people of Baton Rouge. Looking back, they can truly say that a lot of things happened for a reason. Felix has a background in management from a local beverage company. He learned the ins and outs of that business, beginning as a route truck driver and working his way up to branch manager. There, he learned just how to successfully lead a team of people in sales and marketing. Cheryl began decorating cakes in the early 1980’s, and spent some time working for others in the bakery business and also in gift shops. After losing his job of 27 years due to a company merger, Felix knew that he and Cheryl had to find something, and that it may be too late for them to get jobs at their ages. Even though the thought had been dwelling for many years, they finally decided to start their own business
