Site of the former Evergreen Airfield. Was under tentative redevelopment as a commercial/retail area, but halted indefinitely because of economic problems. Currently being used as a "de facto" community park.

  • The field was created in 1946 by an aviation legend (Wally Olson). He continued to run the airport and teach student pilots until his death at 88 years old. When I started flying, this was a great field to fly into. As Vancouver developed, more an more buildings appeared around the field which limited a pilot's choice for landing in an engine failure occurred.
