The tram depot was built in the 1970s. It was a modern facility for its time and was designed to accommodate 100 tram cars. The depot also had workshops equipped for the maintenance and repair of tram rolling stock.

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, this area has been regularly subjected to shelling. As of 2024, according to satellite images, the tram depot has been destroyed as a result of shelling by the Russian army.
