Residence designed c. 1915 by noted archtect Aymar Embury, II for Frederick Huntington Babock {publishing, industrialist}. Babcock served as a director of Doubleday & Co. Publishers and the president of the J.H. Lane publishing firm. The home was originally colonial revival and was later redesigned in Tudor style. Babcock married Dorothy Doubleday whose father was Frank Doubleday, the publisher. Her brother Nelson resided at nearby "Barberrys".
The estate was sold to John Gerdes and subsequently to Bronson Beecher Tuttle Eden, Sr.
