The 111-meter monument of the Bulgarian flag is dedicated to two notable anniversaries that are being celebrated this year - 111 years since the liberation of the Rhodopes and 120 years since the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising, and the height of the pylon symbolizes Bulgaria's territory of 111,000 square km. At the base of the pylon is mounted a plaque with engraved covenants from the country's 28 administrative regions and a time capsule with messages to future generations.
The flag has an area of 1110 sq.m with a size of 41.11 x 27 m.
The pylon has dimensions:
♦ Height – 111 m,
♦ Base size – 3 m,
♦ Diameter of the top – 0.75 m,
♦ Weight – 110 tons,
♦ Construction – 13 sections with a girdle of 8 to 12 m,
♦ Durability – resistant to wind speeds of up to 180 km/h.
The pillar was built according to a project of the Foundation "Heritage in the Future" with donations from the National Donation Campaign "Bulgaria Deserves!" under the patronage of President Rumen Radev.
