Parkland is a town in northern Broward County, founded in 1963. The population of the town has increased five-fold in the past 15 years. Zoning laws are designed to protect the "park-like" character of the city. Initially, there were no stores in Parkland, though this changed in the early 2000s. As of 2010, the population estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau was 23,962.
