office building
Add category
8-story Neo-Renaissance office building completed in 1915. It is clad in brown brick above a double-height ground floor of white granite with a dark-grey granite water table that rises as the site slopes down to the east. The main entrance is in the three center bays, with a glass revolving door in the middle, and glass traditional doors in the flanking bays; the doors are covered by a metal-and-glass canopy. To either side are two bays of tall windows with aluminum spandrels and offset mullions, and at the east end a metal service door is tucked in. The ground floor is capped by a stone band course. The ends of the front facade are lined with stone quoins.
The upper floors have four bays of single-windows in the middle, and two wider outer bays on each side with double-windows that have narrow outer panes paired to wider inner panes. At the 4th & 6th floors the middle four bays are fronted by shallow stone balconies with scrolled brackets and balustrades. The 7th floor is set off by another band course, and topped by a stone cornice with small modillions and dentils. The 8th floor's outer bays are topped by shallow, stone round-arches with keystones, and the piers are decorated with stone medallions. The building is crowned by a dentiled stone cornice that is stepped up in the middle.
The exposed upper part of the east elevation is clad in red-painted brick with stone quoins at the front edge, behind which is a bay of single-windows.
