Residential house, cellar (Gori)

Georgia / Shida Kartli / Gori / 25 February Street
house, cultural heritage / national heritage

The house was built at the end of the XIX century, located on the northern slope of Gori Fortress. Consists of two floors. The cellar is located on the lower floor, according to specialists, around the XVI century. The second floor was built in the XIX century.
The main value of the house is the cellar, which extends to the yard of the neighbor to the east: with the difference that here the second cellar has no floor, including the exit is built. Both cellars are built of Georgian bricks. The II Marn has a separate entrance. Cellar I has niches and artillery in the walls, pitchers buried in the ground are filled.
It is probable that the cellar had a connection with the castle. According to the owner of the house, about 20 years ago, a tunnel led from the II Cellar to the walls of the Gori Fortress, which was closed after 10 m due to the land. Now Cellar II is filled with earth. Its height is 1.5 m at the entrance, then decreases and it becomes impossible to enter.
Since 2008, the building has been granted the status of a cultural heritage monument.
