The tramway was updated during the "great zinc years" at the Cerro Gordo mines under Louis D. Gordon from the old Montgomery tram, which could only move 50 tons per day, to the electric Leschen Aerial Wire Rope Tramway system, which could move 10-20 tons per hour. The tramway was extended from the old Four Metals Company smelter to a combination tram terminus/ore bin building on a spur line of the Carson & Colorado line in Keeler.

Although the pylon timbers appear to have largely disappeared in the 60+ years since the Cerro Gordo mines were closed, the square foundations for the extension pylons can still be seen, plus a service road that ran alongside them.
