The cave is a water cave, located near the village of Chiren, 30 km from the town of Vratsa, one of the largest water caves in Bulgaria, with large and spacious water galleries, saturated with secondary cave formations. The cave is 3 km long and 497 m long and a river flows in all galleries.
According to the register of the Bulgarian Speleological Federation, the Ponora cave is № 0786.
