Established as Michigan Crucible Steel Casting in 1907, Michigan Steel Casting was one of the worlds pioneers in chromium-nickel alloy castings and heat and corrosion resistant alloys. After acquiring lands on both sides of Guoin Street, the company erected a two story foundry building in 1911 on the south side of Guion Street. Later additions resulted in expansion to both the east to St Aubin Street and to the north side of the Guion Street. In 1966, the plant was acquired by Consolidated Foundries and ceased operation sometime between that date and the 1980s. By 1982, the southern parcel became Mill Steel Processing, a steel service center, while the northern parcel was leased in 1986 to Aro-Litho-Plate Co.
