The Bridgebuilder mural

Crimean artists painted a mural — a large portrait of a bridgebuilder. They depicted a worker on the background of the shipping arches of the Crimean bridge. A drawing almost 20 m high is made on a road bridge footing. It will be seen by passengers of trains that will follow through the Kerch Strait from the mainland to the Crimean peninsula, as well as the crews of ships passing under the bridge.

The full-length portrait is dedicated to the team building the Crimean bridge —15 thousand engineers and workers from all over Russia. The teams have specialists who have gone through global construction projects: BAM, preparations for the APEC summit in Vladivostok, the Universiade in Kazan, and the Winter Olympics 2014 in Sochi.

Working upon the mural has been performed for two weeks: the builders prepared the scaffold, and the Crimean artists painted the picture using special paints for the artistic painting of concrete surfaces. The figure of bridge builder was portrayed with the talismans of the Crimean bridge — Mostik (‘Li’le Bridge’) the cat and Tsygan (‘Gypsy’) the dog. They spent four years at the construction site and saw all the work — from the very first piles to the final rails.
