The Rosenberg Renaissance Zone is one of multiple Renaissance Zone Neighborhoods in Galveston. Renaissance Zone Neighborhoods were defined by the city of Galveston in the early 2000s as a way to support area schools with each one centered around an area school. The Rosenberg Renaissance Zone was named for and centered around Rosenberg Elementary School. Today many of the Renaissance Zones within the city, including this one, have moved beyond school and neighborhood development purposes to full fledged neighborhoods within the city with defined borders and decorative signage denoting those borders. Functions of the bureaucratic arm of these zones today are not unlike neighborhood associations.
