Three original buildings were constructed between late 1989 and June 1, 1990 (one building [4494 W US-10] completed around September 1, 1990) by construction companies D.J. Miller Construction and Market Development Corp, the large building (4460 W US-10) used to house a department store Kmart (became Big K in the mid 1990's) from Summer 1990 (originally located at 5540 W US-10) until late-May 2002; the small building on the west side (4494 W US-10) used to house a clothing store Fashion Bug from late 1990 until around mid 2005 (relocated to 4550 W US-10); the second small building on the west side (4510 W US-10) used to house a pharmacy Walgreens from around Summer 1990 until around early 2000 (relocated to 33 S Pere Marquette Hwy.). All the three buildings which housed these stores were demolished around December 2005.

The current building was constructed around early 2006 and the home improvement store was opened on Labor Day, September 4, 2006. But the official grand opening of the store was held on September 13, 2006. This is the 43rd location in Michigan.
