The plaza started out in the early 1980s as solely an Ann & Hope department store bordering a field to the north. In the mid-80s, the plaza was extended north, including a Heartland supermarket and a Child World as co-anchors, along with smaller stores and a Newport Creamery restaurant. However, by the mid-90s, all the anchors and half the stores had closed. The plaza was redeveloped in the early 2000s, with a Lowe's being built over the Ann & Hope site, a Christmas Tree Shops being built at the Child World site, and a Kohls on the former Heartland site. The Newport Creamery and an adjacent store were turned into the U.S. Postal Service's North Dartmouth (02747) branch. Additionally, there is now an IHOP in the Lowe's parking lot and a smaller plaza including a Cold Stone Creamery in the Christmas Tree Shops area of the parking lot.

The plaza still is named for Ann & Hope, as the company still owns the land and operates a small outlet sore in the front of the parking lot (in the former Ben Franklin Crafts store).
