Dime Box is an unincorporated community located on Farm-To-Market Road 1411 in Lee County, Texas.
Commonly cited as an example of an unusually-named town, its name derived from the practice of residents dropping a letter in a box with a dime included for postage, until a U.S. Post Office opened in 1877.
Dime Box received national attention in the 1940s when a CBS radio broadcast kicked off its March of Dimes drive from the community. It was also described by traveler William Least Heat Moon in his 1982 book, "Blue Highways".
The community is served by the Dime Box Independent School District.students.
