  • i thank MR.pratap for sharing his wish to visit the chenthitta devi temple. when we are born and brought up near a temple, the residing deity looks after us through out our life time. people relocate for job to different places and countries, but they always worship their village deity on birthdays, marraige days on all important occasions. they will ask some relative from the village to perform the pujas on their name, and stars.it is natural we want to spend the fog end of our life in our own village. like the birds returning to their nests in the evening, we too want to go back home. times have changed a lot, the places we know as a child are not the same, the food, clothes, manners, culture every thing have turned upside down, but the smell of the mud, air, water, some mystic quality prevailing in the area soothes ur soul. u want to go back to ur earlier care free days, want to share, feel secure among ur loads of relatives , most of them gone now. the real ugly truth of living a lonely unloved, uncared life is killing us all. i pray to my goddess BHAGAVATHI to help us overcome this physical life with out much physical, mental agonies.BHAGAVATHI AMMAN THUNAI

  • in kerala goddess BHAGAVATI is worshiped every where. bhagavati is - kali destroyer of all evils. usually people with mental imbalance, hysterical problems were brought to this temple for a cure.this particular ritual was conducted usually at night time, after the doors were closed for the public. in some of the temples u can see the image of kali in her true form under the feet of devi.those whose deeds are good, usually saw the smiling face of BHAGAVATHI when they worship feel peace, but the wicked bad souls are scared to enter and worship. they only see the kali face of the devi.purity of mind is very important to worship goddess bhagavathi.she assumes the role of mother who is kind, compassionate to her children,ready to punish at the same time.Mr. pratap's nice comments shows his depth of understanding, kindness, humanitarian values.

  • Sakthi is mother.building a temple according to the shilpa shastra is not an easy job. from locating the place to finishing the construction it self will took years to complete. the garbhagraha-where the deity will be installed need special attention. after elaborate pujas and rituals the sakthi peetam will be instaled. this particular rituals is very important because the presiding devi can get her power- sakthi from this peetam only. when the idol os devi is installed on the auspicious day, tremendous transformation will come over the idol due to this sakthi peetam. now the idol become goddess-devi. adi sankara installed four sakthi sthal for worship. worhipping devi with purity of mind will give u salvation,moksha.she is the universal mother gives love protection to all of us. we surrender our soul to her. when a devotee can do such surrender without any expectation his atman will be released from this birth death rebirth cycle. praise her with words, sing songs worship her with devotion devi will be with us always and help us to go through this physical world without much sufferings. spritual experience only will bring salvation to humans.   • There are lot of BHAGAVATHI TEMPLES in kerala state. like DURGA,this Devi is considered as kali- the evil destroyer. there are subtle differences in the image of bhagavathi and other female deities. i am very much interested to know about this particular worship, its origin etc.in kerala they maintain certain rules in the temples. u are not allowed to enter with any modern dress. dress code is very important. another thing i noticed is all most all devotees enter the temples after having a head bath only. the tourists who are not aware of such customs may feel frustrated. purification of body is a must to see god. u can attain purification of mind by his darshan. keeping the temple premises clean, neat is the top priority for the authorities and devotees. it is saddenning to see lot of neglected temples in ruins at so many places.
  • Devi Bhaghavati likes Bhaghavathi Sevai puja very much. on a full moon day or friday this special puja is conducted according to the customs. a pandit is a must. the puja place is cleaned, decorated with a special rangoli-kolam, using haldi and rice flour and kumkum. the design will be drawn by the pundit. a brass or silver lamp will be placed nearby. the lamp will be decorated with chandan-kumkum, flowers etc. either ghee or gingely oil is used to light the lamp.loose flowers, atchathai[rice coated with haldi] garland is needed. special prasad will be offered to the deity. devi likes ARAVANAI PAYASAM. it is prepared with rice, coconut, jaggery, ghee. urad dal vada- is another item. the gathering of the family and devotees will be fed well after the AARATI. this puja brings happiness, prosperity peace to the family.

  • i noticed a change now, people are turning to spirituality for some solace everywhere irrespect of age.young boys and girls are joining willingly spiritual groups and attend classes, learn meditation and satsang. even our tv is telecasting lot of serials like ramayana, mahabharata, hanumanji etc. in the west when there was a severe recession, there suddenly super heroes like superman, batman life like images are produced to lift the public from depression. i think we are also turning to spirituality for solace, because the humans have depleted all the natural sources for their own benefit, destroyed plant and animal kingdom almost to its extinction. they are facing a blank future now. man is incapable of doing anything now to save him. rains are playing hide and seek, no water,shortage of food items, no fuel. the price rise all are adding fuel to the burning fire. the most superior being of evolution is now helpless. there is no other way other than surrendering to the supreme divinity-GOD. He only can save this world now. i really appreciate the views expressed by Ms. uma and Mr. pratap and their devotion which comes from their hearts. true devotees only can save us with their prayers. please pray for us all.

Mother-Goddess might be looking in splendour today,as fridays are special days for her.navaratri festival is nearing, the temple will be flooded with devotees from all over thiruvananthapuram,the temple might be preparing for this festival. goddess mundakanni amman will arrive, to took her place at chenthitta.the pundits will decorate mother with new ornaments, silk pavadai and flowers. fasting on those nine days, visiting various temples are considered as auspicious, sacred duties for ladies. some kept doll exhibition during navaratri and invite neighbours and friends, relatives for puja and haldi kumkum. this is called KOLU in tamil. all sors of gods and other assorted dolls will be arranged on steps. usually there is some basic rituals to be followed for this kolu. women and children wear good clothes, jewels and visits other kolu and temples. celebrating this way gives some kind of mental relaxation and happiness to women. reading Devi mahathmiyam, lalthia sahasranam, soundharya lahari etc good. when you visit the temple in the morning and evening it purifies your mind and soul. having darshan of chenthitta amman on navaratri will be a divine experience for devotees. the last three days are most imporant for devi. she will took the form of durga, saraswathi and vijalakshmi. those who visits her will be blessed with her divine grace. i offer my prayers to amma.

  • om namo narayani.pl accept my humble prayers and protect my family.people who visit Thiruvanandapuram city in keral state are not aware of this beautiful bhagavathi temple,because iiit is not popularised by the tourism department. tourist who came to this city ususally visit the famous ananda padhmanabha swamy temple only. there are small but beautiful temples around there, like srivaragam temple with varagha moorthy swamy, srikandeswara temple, subramaniya swamy temple etc. if the govt covers all these temples under tourism, the devotees can have darshan of the deities in one go. srivaragam temple is very calm and quiet with a pond, devotees go for their job search. most of the temples are very old, they still maintain their old traditions with rituals and it is very pleasing to visit such abodes of gods.even today, nambhoothiris conduct the pujas in all these temples.when u enter such temples, the divine energy envelopes u gives u such peace of mind mere words cannot describe such feelings. i request the temple committee to maintain such beautiful temples in such a way that devotees are compelled to visit again and again. i hope my bhagavathi amman mandir will be very famous through out the country with her blessings. om namo narayani.

  • om namo bhagavati. it is nice knowing a devotee,her devotion love to goddess. mother bhagavati has this tremendous love and affection for her children. some how, mother always send her message to me through some person. i always wonder about this. when ever i visit my hometown, after only a few minutes of my arrival, some one from the family, neighbours, or servants will ask me[isn't it time for u visit the temple after ur bath? this question, a sort of reminder is always directed to me only. i failed to recognise her love and compassion in the begining,later realised my folly after that no turning back. whereever i go i can visualise her glory and call her. once girl children were given names like bhagavathi, bhargavi, parvati, gowri etc, calling their names means calling the goddess ,chanting her name in different ways. but thoses days are gone, modern names without any meaning are given to children now.devi will bless and protect her children without fail. please bless us all.

  • Absolute truth does exist, and it can be fully realized. But unfortunately those who realize it are very few. The vast majority of people remain illusioned and unfulfilled because they stubbornly hold onto the misconception that they are the center of the universe. And thus sadly their lives are thrown down the drain completely wasted in the maddened pursuit of material sense gratification. They never realize the full potential that human life offers to them. Those who would like to throw off the shackles of illusion and realize the Absolute Truth should seek it with a completely open mind. If they hold on to a preconception of what is the Absolute Truth, that preconception will distort their vision and prevent them from realizing the Absolute Truth. Their vision of reality will be twisted around their prejudice. So pure objectivity is required. If one is daring enough to throw all prejudices and be prepared to accept whatever he may discover, the Absolute Truth will be revealed to him in due course of time, and he will enter into an eternal life, full of bliss, and full of knowledge.

He tells, death is nothing,a long sleep, after wards you,[your soul] will wake up in a new body.In ordinary sleep, you sleep for few hours, find yourself in the same body. Relatives and others wail, cry, mourn the death, because they cannot have you in the same physical body known to them.There is no need to cry, death is a new begining for the soul.When the soul gets tired of the old wornout body, it discards the body.The soul may wander for some time,moretime,till it wished to enter in to a new form.Swamiji also explained that death brings grief mostly due to selfish thoughts.What will i do, where will i go, who cares me, children etc centers around only ourselves. i hope some one will provide more relevent details,knowledge to this subject.

Krishna confirms in the Bhagavad-gita that if we surrender to Him He will release us from our karma. Just as the president can grant a pardon and release a person from prison even if he was not qualified by the rules of the prison to be released, in a similar way Krishna will release from the wheel of karma anyone who surrenders unto Him even if their karma dictates that they must remain in the cycle of birth of death. Because the law of karma is acting under the energy of Krishna, He has the power to override it and release anyone from it who has surrendered unto Him. Krishna is not under the law of karma. He is over the law of karma. Since Krishna orders us to chant His names, when we agree to seriously take up the regular chanting, we are surrendering ourselves unto Krishna and become qualified by His special mercy for release from the wheel of karma.

Now in July, I have almost recovered.   • I am overwhelmed.God bless you,family and all devotees.The logic provided clearly says that w are here to suffer but we can always do better and stop further birth cycles. The mind of is an instrument which is used by the self. It is like the reins which control the senses. It is not the actual self. Yes, God consciousness means to control the mind by using it to keep all of our senses always engaged in God's service. And yes, taking a firm decision requires a sense of identity. When our false ego is abandoned and when we fully revive our true ego that I am the eternal servant of God, then it is fact the the Supreme Lord will appear before us.That is only possible for a realized soul. When we are young, our five senses rule our body, mind,brain,we have no control over them.When we became old, we may turn to spirituality as a solace, but not for salvation.I have this question on my mind,;if we have to die oneday at any age,then what is the purpose of our birth? wHAT is soul? If soul is immortal, gita saya so, why soul wants to undergo the suffering, pain,some joy at every birth,die in the end? i cannot select my parents, my sex, my timing of death, then what else can i do?   • The purpose of Lord Krishna's 'leelas' was to cultivate intense love in Gopikas' hearts for Him. The Gopikas were uneducated and they didn't think in an intellectual sense. So, the easiest way Krishna found was to destroy their minds by developing one-pointed devotion in them. At the peak of devotion and total surrender to God's Will, one automatically attains true knowledge. And it happened in the Gopikas case as they all attained realization in the end. But people like Arjuna were those who thought intellectually. It was not easy to make him surrender until Krishna imparted to him some spiritual truths and thus pacified his questioning mind. But the Lord told Arjuna that true knowledge could be obtained only when one destroys one's mind and surrender oneself to God. So, those under the sway of doubts, desires, selfishness etc are advised by Krishna to continue doing their worldly duties while making efforts to focus their minds on God. Ultimately, God Himself will come to their rescue as a Guru and lead them to the path of realization. We have no choice and control over our lives because we let ourselves ruled by our minds. We feel bound due to the ignorance of our minds. The soul is ever free. So, as advised by Lord Krishna, we should have total faith in Him and give Him total control over our lives. He will ultimately give us true knowledge thus answering all our questions.
  • We may not like to accept any master or authority other than our own minds. But the reality is that there is a higher power and authority. We are the not the supreme. Each of us is a tiny part of a Complete Whole which is much, much greater than any of us. Like it or not we are indeed subordinate to that from which we have come. We have not created this reality. Rather we were born into it. At the present moment we are in a state of disharmony with our Source. When the individual consciousness is out of symmetry with the Supreme Consciousness, he must necessarily suffer. This is a highly unnatural condition for him to be in because in his original pure state, he is perfectly dovetailed with the Supreme Consciousness experiencing an eternal existence. The individual's liberty is to choose whether he would like to live in harmony with the Supreme Consciousness, or whether he would like to strike out on his own and try to create his own new reality in which he is the centre of existence. Modern humanity has chosen the latter and has become helplessly entangled in the fourfold miseries of birth, death, old age, and disease. The thoughtful person opts out of the "I am the centre" mass psychosis seeking an enlightened state of consciousness in which he is liberated from all types of suffering. Easy to say but through extreme devotion and practice,we can always try and live meaningfully.

  • Om namo narayani.My recent visit to Guruvayoor krishna temple after a long gap filled my mind with wonder and peace.Long hours of waiting,humidity, sweat,hunger nothing botheres us as we waited on the newly constructed line system.The entrance is Garbha graha is small, narrow,the growd jostles you,pushes you here and there, but the glimpse of Krishna as you enter the corridor and a close up daeshan near the garbha graha is worth this trouble.Unni kannan, the god is fondly called by the bhaktas for the early morning darshan=Nirmalayam.God took the form of unni,small boy dressed in a small dhoti pattu peethambar, peacock crown with garlands and ornaments.I asked the Bala krishna to come with me.All of us wanted to took him in our arms,feed him butter and milk, curd so many things.Again i went back to have another look.The vibrations of the Mandir always lure me.i almost lost my sense,surroundings etc.This time, the holy atmosphere pulled towards Him.
  • om namo narayani.My visit to kerala after a long time,the Darshan of krishna at guruvayoor, Bhagavathi shethram, siva darshan are a welcome break from my routine boring life.After standing in line for more than 2 hours, we had darshan of unni kannan early morning.The crowd, waiting, heat, hunger nothing matters to us when we took a glimpse of the krishna.Again we went and stand in another line to have one more darshan.God called us back, we changed plans to have more darshans,butnot satisfied.We lighted lot of lamps around the garbha graha in the evening, watched seevaeli procession, the beautiful 3 elephants decked with pattayam. the chentta music, chanting of Hare rama,hare krishna by devotees,rush for payasam,kathali pazham, neipayasam etc with wonder.Nothing much changed except devotees in modern dresses.I have no idea how long this tradition is going to last,but the darshan filled our hearts with devotion and peace.A place of worship,where you can connect with god, or

Recently some people discovered a Lord vishnu idol after some excavation and find out that this idol might be from 16th century old one.   • when i saw this divine temple is now added in the list for tourists i felt extremely happy.Even thoughsome temples are small, the power residing there is very powerful.another such one is srivaragam temple at trivandrum. people are now leading a stressed life, instead of attending stress relief sessions, they should develop the habit of visiting the temples, start talking to the deities there. this is the most reliable stress burster, the energy present in such divine places soothens the nerves and calm the mind. hope some will try this spiritual remedy. i offer my pranams to goddess Bhaghavati.

Recently another famous temple of Lord padhmanabha got world wide recognition due to the unearthed wealth from its secret chambers. i really woder what divine powers are playing some game with us. There are unsolved mysteries in this world. Even today we are unable to solve them with the help of science and technology. Spiritual matters are different. ordinary human cannot solve any of its mysteries,but this time i hope some divine power is going to reveal something. i offer my prayers to devi's lotus feet.

Most of the stories are like human stories, there in the devaloka gods and asuras other devas used to quarrel, wars against evil, births of gods, adventures like coming to this earth from the devaloka after some curse.All these stories are writted like ours because people have this faith that gods are divine with supernatural powers but they look like humans with extrordinary beauty, This is mainly due to we can only identify them like this forms.Some scholars are of the opinion that idol worship is not necessary we can reach godwhen we stated feeling his presence with in ourselves. i think deep meditation will give you this feeling of connection with the Almighty. some times we may experience such feelings and images floating before our eyes we may doubt these are halluvinations.try and sit for hours with this outof the world feeling.

It rained heavily, bridges are washed away onn the way, but some how we had a divine darshanof God krishna and Devi at udupi and mookambika and sringeri sarada peeth. devi mookambika temple is in karnataka but the temple structure and the way rituals are conducted are like in kerala temples.The baby elephant is so cute offered pranams to goddess in a beautiful manner and took away the sugar cane very obediently. THe road to the temple is very beautiful and all of us enjoyed the trip inspite of rains. the udupi krishna mandir is very old and krishna is decorated with silver garments and diamond studded ornaments is etched in our minds for eternity. devotees who could spend their timenear the temple offering prayers at daily basis are very blessed ones. god has a unique way to show. i wish i am lucky enough to spend the rest of my life in that way.
  • we visited the temple on 17th sep 2011. we performed mangala pooja for our daughter since the potis told us to perform three years before.her star is rohini potis advised us to do the mangala pooja since the star is rohini. the pooja was done very well.they performed well. we all felt very happy. I wish devi will bless our daughter well in future. But i didnt know the details of the pooja.If anyone tells the nature of the managala pooja I will feel very happy. can i get the photagraph of devi.

We have this strong belief that star Rohini the birth star of lord krishna is not good for maternal uncle means Ammavan or mama in other states.Most of our beliefs and rituals are centred around the vedic puranas like ramayana and geeta. The pundit once warned my cousin a calamity is going to happen to her husband when he saw the star in the archana receipt. He survived a major car crash. Devi saved my fatther's life so many times. devotess have such wonderful experiences there.Regarding the Mangala pooja mangal means subha auspecious begining in sanskrit.when we star something we used to say sub subha mangal ho. It is a wonder mankind could never findout the answer till date how this earth and living beings are formed/ when it will end? or who created this earth/ so many questions and answers are still haunting the scholars.some say nature the kudarat is responsible for the evolution and destruction, but no clear cut answer. so many people ask why we die/ what happens after death? is it true the smae souls come back again etc.it is a secret. living beings come and go the nature creates destroys and recreates that is the process. but why this is happenning? who is running this cycle. we believe in god and he is responsible for every thing.some powers are there and they are running this cycle of birth death and rebirth. the same thing is happenning againand again but no one lives long enough to know the answer or no one come back to tell us what happens after our death.the one thing i am sure about is when a life form comes the destruction factors also comes along with it that is the rule of the nature. man dies of old age diseases, accidents, bomb attacks and so many ways they kill one another, all these indicates we destroy ourselves, the nature destroys the life forms by producing disease causing germs.i wonder death comes in different ways now. not sure i am going to die of old age only any form of death will come to end my life.

Tomorrow is the first day of Navaratri, the nine day festival of worshipping the goddess.Devi or sakti is the female form of creation.sakti worship is prevelent in earlier days in most of the countris.our boy and brain are divided in to two parts like two hemeispheres, right and left, right side of the brain is responsible for thinking logic etc while the left side is emotion and compassion etc. a human body has these two sides but one is dominamt other side subduesd. Even god created the first female form from his left side , christians also believes that eve was created from the left rib.These two forms are different in everything.creation mainly depends on the females, the seed is sown by the male.In our scriptures the three deities Bhrrahma, vishnu and shiva are different from sakti. sakti or devi worship is different here we salute the creating power, if this is not here the entire world might have been gone long back.This sustaining factor is responsible for this universe which is still running.During these nine days offer prayer to sakti and het her blessings.

  • chqnting god's name is a recommended movement mentioned in Bhagavathm especially during the kaliyug period.The worldmay end or may not end but it is significant to note the changes.now people have no dharma to follow they are open free no shame in doing prohibited deeds, men and women are behaving as though they are no longer chained to the rules of the society.The state of Nirvana is mentioned by BHSHA AND MAHAVIR, but the true nirvana can be watched now. people who are corrupt and cruel reach the top, who loot aand kill occupy great high positions, all sorts of bad things thrive and bloom the poor and the wretched just watch and suffer.The princples of Sri ram and Lord krishna are forgotten, the local heroes are the real heroes, moneyis our king who gives out money during game shows is our God.Hope this yug will end a really Sathya yug will come and rule this country soon, Devi bhaghavathi mahamayi narayani kaathu rakshikkanamae.

  • sarva mangala maangalyae sivae sarvatha sathikaye sarnyae thrayambikaye narayani namosthuthaye.This is the sloka recited by devotees in Devi temples.When sathi the wife of Lord siva burned in fire siva took her on his shoulders and wandered around the three lokas ,there is no end to his grief and other gods were worried and requested Lord vishnu to help.He cut the body in to pieces and the pieces have fallen down to earth in different places.They are worshiped as sakthi sthals. This puranic story tells us that even gods end their life.So many storied in our Hindu culture and when ever you visit a temple you read or hear a story about that temple deity.Most of our life stories are also woven around such stories.Devotees travel to distant places for worship. They are pilgrimages or theerth yatra.Why we need purification?We clean our innerself filled with bad dark thoughts and the only place we can unburden ourselves is a religious place.

  • There might be some other lokas othar then this bhoolok.purans often indicates other terrorestrial beings which some times contact this earthly beings,oftenvisit this earth as well. but all these theories are forgotten now. and people are not interested to pursue this study because world is run by technology only. when we spend money to find out the aliens, i think some other extra terrestrial beings are also in this planet itself.we may lost that brain power now but our ancestors centuries baack had this experience, unfortunately no one lives that long enough to verify this connection.i offer my prayers to devo residing at chenthitta.
  • pongalai festival was conducted in this temple recently. For the last four years this temple has started this festival like attukkal bhaghavathi temple.hope more and more devotees will participate in coming years. eventhough i could never visit the temple for such a long time devi's blessings are with me and family. om deviyae namahae.
  • once this temple was surrounded by silence. only very few people used to visit daily morning and evening.Apart from festival time there is such peace and divinity prevelent there.now the atmosphere has been changed more vechicles and traffic on this oneway road lot of shops changed the place.now temples mean crowd and long eques,prasad counters is the sight greeted one.when you are not allowed to gaze in the idol even for a second what is the purpose of our temple visit? i offer my namaskarams to devi.
  • om namo bhaghavathiyae namaha.my recent visits to lot of temples soothened my soul. inspite of the crowds, noise some divinity is still in those places. i often wonder whether god is real or he is watching us through these idols we wordhip with faith,but there is some connectivity betwenn us. till the festival of adichevvai arrives this temple will remain at a calm atmosphere. i offer my prayers to her lotus feet.

Devi will bless my family inspite of the difficult times we are facing that is how i feel now. goddess is known for her kindness and i experienced so many times in my life and this time again she will ne kind enough to save me. i offer my prayrs to her and seek her divine presence in my life and beg her to be with me all the time and protect my family.
  • when i was young this temple is a playing ground for us. after sunset we wash and offer our prayers regulary. most of the time we praay for ur results only. some of my friends promised to offer some camphor or kumkum if they get better results. my family offers coconut and clothes for the gods. god is part of my life and i connect with him easily. now i realise innocence is essential for this divine connection. when we grow up and learn to adjust to this world we lost that innocence. now prayers for self only. ther is used to be some respect and fear to do any thing wrong becaused we believed god is always watching us. life never returns and it goes on according to its own predictions. life changed values also changed we are nowhere. i miss those days wish for that connection. i pray to devi she willl bring back those days once again. those days are blissful. it haunts my memory and i often dreams that connection. i hope i can visit goddess very soon to offer my prayers in person.
  • om deviyae namaha. i read an article recently about the origin of Aghraharams in kerala and other places. Till now there is no clear data in this regard, when and from where these brahmins came to settle down there. Parusurama one of the avtars of Lord krishna has no place to stay after killing the kshatrias and a land emerged from the sea when throws his axe is the story. There is no historic evidence about this but most of the evidences are concoded version of the truth.i am very much interested to know my origin, but no body can even remember their great great grand fathers name or origin.is there some way find out the family tree/?most of us speak some mix of languages, some words were never heard anywhere, but we use it at home.the origin of languages is an interesting study,during my travels i find out that some words mean different in different parts of this country.cultures are also a mix. there is no definite culture, what is Hindu Dharma? now i am nobody, a human iin utter confusion.

  • I lost touch with this temple, other temples at Trivandrum for a long time. Once an ardent devotee turned nasthik due to life's hardships. But the wonder is however i tried the Bhakti or devotion remained in my heart, I removed all the pictures of gods and never lighted a lamp or visited any temple, but the connecting link never left me. Now this connection is some time troubles me but some time gives solace from my innner thoughts. I often wonder whether god is responsible for my sad, tear filled life or me? only time will tell an answer. hope some day i can hear Her voice, inner voice which will answer all my questions. i offer my prayers to goddess.

Rest of ourlives is decided by parents, teachers and to a certain extent by us. I often wonder who is the real one? My colourand height features are not selected by me, my qualification is given by parents and most of my life is going by others' wishes and in the midst i stoo d alone just watching this chaos of my life. The river of life and death is flowing tirelessly and no end and in this river we humans float with out any purpose and where we end? i am so curious to know the answer.
