Flood control dam for approximately 19 sq. mi. of Puente and Chico Hills. Carbon Canyon Regional Park, part of Chino Hills State Park on the north side of the dam and is in the flood control basin.
Construction was started in 1959 and was completed and accepted by the Army Corps of Engineers in May 1961.
