The Skivarp Sugar plant was constructed by Jacob Lachmann, and production began 1901. It was part of AB Ystads Sockerraffinaderi (Ystad sugar refinery) which in 1902 became part Sockerfabriks AB Union (Sugar plant union). At the start of the 1900-s it had around 350 workers, and was the first producer of granulated sugar in Sweden. A railway track connected it to Klagstorp station, and by that to the rest of the railway network. Production was stopped in 1960, and the buildings have since then stood abandoned and has been a target for urban explorers in the later years. It was destroyed in a fire in 2015.
