Historic district encompassing the oldest core of the University of Colorado campus. The district, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties, contains 12 contributing buildings:

- Old Main (1876; E.H. Dimick architect)
- Macky Auditorium (1909-1922; Gove and Walsh architects)
- Woodbury Arts & Sciences Building (1890; F.A. Hale architect)
- Norlin Library (1939; Charles Z. Klauder architect ~~ shows two modern additions)
- Ekeley Science Building (1898; Ernest Varian architect ~~ wings designed by Charles Z. Klauder were added in 1925, plus another modern addition)
- Hellems Arts & Sciences Building (1921; Charles Z. Klauder architect ~~ wings added in 1937)
- University Theater (1902; George W. Roe architect ~~ historic addition in 1923, plus another larger modern addition)
- Guggenheim Geography Building (1902)
- Gates Woodruff Women's Studies Cottage (1885)
- Hale Science Building (1892-1895; wings added in 1910)
- Alumni Center (1885; Ernest Varian architect) - originally the school president's home
- McKenna Languages Building (1937; Charles Z. Klauder architect ~~ addition in 1946)

The Humanities Building falls within the historic district, but is not considered historically contributing due to its modern construction.
