Residence designed by Bradley Delehanty c. 1939 in the Federal style for John Kirtland Colgate, Sr {industrialist}. Colgate was vice president and treasurer of the Tyson Bearing Corp. concern of manufacturing roller bearings and airplane engine parts. His great-grandfather was William Colgate, a founder of Colgate-Palmolive Co.
The estate was subsequently owned by Edwin Holmes Schutt, Jr.
