 skyscraper, apartment building, 2019 construction

914-foot, 72-story modernist residential building completed in 2019 for Related Companies. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro with Ismael Leyva Architects;and Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, it is clad in dark silvery-blue glass. Its interiors were designed by Rockwell Group. The tower takes the shape of a quatrefoil at the top, forming four graceful arcs that gradually emerge from the squared lower floors. At the base of the east side, the facade flares dramatically inward, and incorporates the 6-story movable structure known as The Shed, which emerges from the base and extends out toward the east with its sliding canopy.

While the top of the tower is very smooth and glossy, with its four graceful interwoven circles, the more visible base breaks up into tiny, broken, glassy shards, staggered at each floor. The ground floor at the west side is clad in white stone, sloping up from the south (pierced by four irregular wedge-shaped windows of differing sized) and rises to a peak at the northwest corner, where it wraps around partly onto the north facade. This is the location of the main entrance, with a glass wall containing a set of glass double-doors below a thin metal canopy.

The building contains 285 apartment units with segregated, separate entrances for those who are wealthy condo owners and those who are subsidized renters. The building's lobby contains a large-scale wooden installation designed by Joel Shapiro.
