Located just south of Norman's most crime-ridden apartment complexes, Oakhurst is an older neighborhood that was once fairly nice and is now fairly affordable. Love this place because they have no rules - the HOA vote years back didn't go through and now there's no chance of that ever happening again. Mod your house up, start a business in your garage or driveway, build a fifty foot HAM tower over your own house, put a menagerie of obnoxious blow up snowmen, santas and reindeer in your front yard. Nobody can stop you. Move here if you don't mind a few crazies and enjoy the freedom to do whatever you want. Mostly good people, but a lot of irresponsible ones. Want a dog? Just go outside and pick one up- there's plenty! Hire the Jamaican guy if you need an odd job done. Garage sale capital of the known world! Formerly home of the "Oakhurst Dog Parade," really wish they would bring that back... The motto of the Oakhurst Neighborhood Association is, "We can't afford a neighborhood sign."
