Aberdeen is a city in Aberdeen Township, Brown County, South Dakota. The population was 26,091 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Brown County.

Aberdeen was settled in 1880 and incorporated in 1882. It was located on the mainline of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, completed between Chicago and the west coast during 1909. The rail line is now operated by BNSF Railway.
