Most of the permanent exhibits — the museum is divided into four major exhibits — encourage children to use their imaginations to solve problems and discover new things. A giant ball machine in an exhibit called Tools for Solutions requires kids to use hydropower, cranks, planes and gears — and teamwork — to move balls into a giant basket. But the kids will just think they're having fun.

In the Let Your Creativity Flow exhibit, children can build sand castles, paint on the walls, or dress up and perform on a stage with video dancers they'll see on a screen.

In Fundamentally Food, children can trace food from the farm to the table, including loading boxes onto a delivery truck and serving up a meal of plastic fruits and vegetables. And in Leaping into Learning, an exhibit designed for toddlers and preschoolers, they'll walk through a forest and splash in stream — after they put on a raincoat.

The target age group for the museum is 2 to 8, but older kids will have fun, too.
