Crow Lake Wind Farm, occasionally known as PrairieWinds SD1, is located about 8-20 miles (13-33 km) northeast of Kimball, South Dakota. Commissioned in 2011, it consists of 108 GE Energy 1.5sle wind turbines with a combined nominal capacity of 162 MW.
Note: Originally 7 of the turbines were owned by South Dakota Wind Partners, forming a separate wind farm, but these 7 were purchased in 2017, thus making up the total of 108. One of the 108 turbines is still owned by Mitchell Technical Institute and is used for training future wind technicians.
