While one may chuckle at the name (which may be accurate in many aspects), this school's full name is the Jenard Gross Elementary School, which opened around 1979 as the I. Weiner Jewish Secondary School. In 2000 the school moved out and it was bought and converted to an elementary school by HISD in 2001.
