Frozen in a state of stabilized preservation, the Uptown Theatre awaits a day when both money and motivation are available to repair and restore it to its former glory. Its status as a local and national landmark keeps it somewhat safe from the wrecking ball, but with a semi-flooded basement, facade problems, and a need for thorough renovation, it's a race against time before something gives in. With a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood, preservation to some degree is possible, but so is demolition.

As of 2019, there is a plan for full renovation. No completion date has been set.
