A place of trading. Comancheros were Hispanics and later Gringos who traded with the plains Indians, especially the Comanches. Sometimes the trade, which usually involved buffalo hides, was government sanctioned, but often was illegal, as it involved guns and stolen livestock. This particular cejita is in an area of small arroyos, hills and broken grasslands that may have provided some cover for apprehensive trading parties.
