The Grand Pump Room was built 1799 by Thomas Baldwin (1789-1791) and John Palmer (1793-1799). Former South Colonnade of 9 bays, with unfluted Ionic columns, was built by Baldwin in 1786 and is a part The Pump Room west facade at present. The North Colonnade is very similar and forms Abbey Churchyard entrance from Stall Street..
Regarded as the social heart of Bath for more than two centuries, present Pump Room is a striking neo-classical salon with a fountain for drinking the hot spa water.
The Pump Room Restaurant is open daily for morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea, with live music by the Pump Room Trio or resident pianist.
This 18th century complex is grade I. listed building.
